How to get acro ranking points

Many pilots want to join he Acro World Cup but do not have the World Ranking points needed to make the cut.
What to do?
Get points of coarse. How? To compete in smaller acro competitions first to collect points.

There are two main categories in the FAI system.
- Cat1 is World Championships, Europeen Championships. Asian and South-American can probably also get cat1 status if the go all the way thru the FAI system.
- Cat2 is all other competitions that apply for this to the FAI, and follow the regulations for cat2 events.

Then you have a third group that is the Acro World Cup. Acro World Cup is actually FAI cat2 competitions, but the FAI acro working group choose 4-6 comps every season that also get the World Cup status.

So, there are kind of two rankings. The general World Ranking where all cat2 and cat1 events will give points. And there is the "Final Results Acro World Cup" which is the results from the world cups only.

OK.
You are an acro pilot, and want to fly competitions. The same way as in XC, the World Cup is not for everyone. But there are several competitions that also allow beginner acro pilots. Some of these competitions are the three Norwegian Cups, the Norwegian Championships and the Swedish Championships. All these comps are also FAI cat2 events that will give the pilots World Cup ranking points, that will again make it easier to join the World Cup later (next season?) when you have the experience and skills needed.

Here is the Scandinavian FAI cat2 calendar:

NM-akro (PG) Norwegian Championships Open
13.-16.juni Mjøsa Acro challenge - Norway

Hi Pal, thanks for the explanation, I think many pilots were curious about this. I think in the moment it is not so easy for a newcomer acro pilot to join the world cups, because the level is getting really high and a lot of joung, but really skilled pilots are coming. Even if there are a few available slots, a lot of pilots are fighting to fullfill them. It's just a pity that there are no other comps except these Nordic ones. It is actually great to see that there is such an acro activity in your country every year!
Thx again. You could also let us know, where are the new rules for this year available :-)
